Idaho BaseCamp's Sprouts Kinderschool offers a Waldorf-inspired early learning experience for children ages 4.5 to 6, where curiosity, creativity, and connection to nature guide every day.

Sprouts is a warm and nurturing environment where young learners can grow through active, hands-on experiences. Rooted in the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own strengths and interests, the program creates space for children to discover at their own pace. Healthy lunches and snacks nourish both body and mind, while small class sizes ensure each child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

Days at Sprouts unfold in a rhythm that blends play, exploration, and connection. Children care for plants in the garden, interact with animals, and spend time in the school’s large outdoor space. Located within walking distance of the river, the program also provides opportunities to explore the natural world just beyond the classroom.

At its heart, Sprouts Kinderschool is about fostering a lifelong love of learning. By encouraging children to explore, question, and create in a safe and supportive environment, the program helps them build confidence, imagination, and a deep sense of wonder that will carry into their school years and beyond.

Meet Our Sprouts Teacher:
Larissa Alvarado
Hello! I'm thrilled to be joining the Sprouts community in the Fall. I've been working with children in a variety of settings for the last 10 years- from public education to both Montessori and Waldorf schools. I'll be moving from Southwest Colorado, where I've been the lead Kindergarten teacher at Mancos Valley Dragonfly School, a Waldorf-inspired preschool and kindergarten. My degree in Elementary Education and minor in Outdoor Education has fueled my passion for hands-on, nature-based learning.

My teaching journey has taken me across the world, including 3 years teaching at Concordia International School in Hanoi, Vietnam. Exploring different cultures and planning adventures has shaped my perspective, and I love bringing all I have learned from across many cultures into the classroom. Outside of teaching, you'll find me enjoying the outdoors, sitting by a fire crafting, dancing, cooking, or snowboarding.

After many years of summers visits to Idaho, I'm thrilled to make the Wood River Valley my full time home. I am so excited to become a part of this community and look forward to getting to know each of vou wonderful parents!
