When and where is camp drop-off and pick-up?All camp drop-off in the mornings, and pick-up in the afternoons, unless specified otherwise ahead of time will be at the Forest Service Park (131 River St E) behind the Limelight Hotel in Ketchum. We share this space with the Farmer's Market and other events during the summer so please be mindful of any parking signs and restrictions, and drive slowly!
-
What does my child need to bring to camp every day?We will send you a bring list and schedule via email two weeks in advance of your child's camp. That being said, a normal bring list for a typical day at camp includes a lunch, snacks, water bottle, sunscreen, river shoes, swim/bathing suit, towel, and sun hat or cap. We encourage all parents to have their child ready for camp at drop-off — this means the first coat of sunscreen already applied, swimsuit and river shoes on, a full water bottle and a stomach full of breakfast... the sooner everyone is ready, the more adventures we can go on!
-
What does my child need to bring on overnight trips? We send all parents a detailed packing list two weeks prior to their child attending a camp with one or more overnight. The list includes standard items such as a warm sleeping bag and pad, a change of clothes including long pants and jackets, and personal toiletries. We provide all food and snacks for the duration of the overnight (dinner in the evening, and breakfast and lunch on the following day) — your child will just need to pack a lunch like a typical camp day! Please ensure that your child does not bring any electronic devices such as a phone or smartwatch — we are a tech-free camp.
-
When do you send over a schedule of my child’s camp?We send all parents a schedule with a day-by-day breakdown of their child's camp two weeks prior to the start of the camp. This includes a bring list and any notes such as gear to bring for specific activities (i.e. helmets and headlamps for caving, or a change of clothes and extra snacks for rafting) or, in the case of an overnight camp, a detailed packing list for the overnight.
-
Do you provide food on overnight trips?Yes we do! We provide dinner on the evening of the overnight, and breakfast and lunch on the following day — with plenty of snacks in between! Whether we're cooking hot dogs by the fire at a dispersed campsite or throwing together some tacos at our Big Lost Campus, we make sure your child is happy and full and ready for the next adventure. We make note of any dietary restrictions or allergies and consult with parents to do our best to accommodate every child's needs.
-
Where does my child go on overnights? Many of our overnights take place at our Big Lost Campus, which is located up Trail Creek Road about an hour from Sun Valley. Other camps "hit the road" and set up at dispersed camping spots or campgrounds near and far – often the most beautiful and memorable experiences! If you have any questions, camp directors or your child's counselors will be able to give you more details on overnight locations and route itinerary during your child's camp.
-
Do I need to bring carseats or boosters? We have designated "Mini" vans for our youngest campers (4-6 years old) that are equipped with car seats, so you do not need to bring your own to drop-off! For "Mighty" camps (6-8 years old), we have inflatable booster seats; you are welcome to bring their own if preferred. If circumstances arise and you are asked to bring car seats or boosters, this request will appear in the bring list that is emailed out two weeks prior to your child's camp.
-
How do you transport my kids at camp?We transport all campers in 15 passengers vans; IBC's current fleet of vehicles include Fort Transit models and Ford E-Series models. All vans undergo routine maintenance and safety checks prior to the start of the season, and camp staff are trained to operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner — and change any flat tire (or two) along the way!
-
If I'm late, who should I contact? If you're running late to drop off or pick up your child at camp, please contact camp directors or staff directly and let them know! Our staff will wait ten minutes and then begin contacting parents directly; the more communication the better!
-
If my kid is late to pick-up, will I get notified? Our staff's goal is to roll into the pick-up location on time everyday, but we appreciate your understanding that occasionally, extenuating circumstances like road construction or traffic may delay a van. In the case of a significant delay, you will receive a notification via email or text letting you know and updating you on the situation.
-
Who do I contact if needed when my child is at camp?If there is an emergency or you need to contact your child while they are at camp, for any reason, please reach out to camp directors. They will quickly connect you with staff out in the field, when possible, and help coordinate any appropriate response.
-
Is your staff first aid certified?Yes! All our camp counselors and staff hold valid First Aid & CPR certifications at minimum. Additionally, many of our staff hold specialized Wilderness First Aid and First Responder certifications from the National Outdoor Leadership School.
-
Is your staff background checked?Yes! We run extensive background checks on all employees as part of IBC's hiring process.
M.A.T. Scholarships
Idaho BaseCamp welcomes donations each year for our M.A.T. Scholarship Fund. This fund exists to provide as many camp opportunities as possible to families and children who may not otherwise have capacity to attend our summer programming. In 2025, generous donors raised over $42,000 which allows IBC to extend M.A.T. camp experiences to more families in the Wood River Valley, regardless of socio-economic status or other factors.
To inquire about scholarships, either as an individual or an organization, please contact our enrollment director Joelle. Scholarships are limited, and decisions will be made based on completion of an application that includes proof of income and other information.
