Outdoor Hispanic Leaders
The Outdoor Hispanic Leaders program is a free after-school opportunity for Wood River Middle School students in Hailey, designed to empower Hispanic youth through outdoor adventure, leadership development, and mentorship in a supportive, bilingual environment.

Each week, students embark on new experiences—hiking local trails, camping under the stars, climbing rock walls, or navigating whitewater rapids. Alongside these outdoor adventures, they engage in activities that build confidence and leadership, from team-building exercises and public speaking workshops to meaningful service projects. With guidance from Spanish-speaking teachers and mentors, students strengthen not only their outdoor and leadership skills but also their academic abilities and sense of self.

At its core, the OHL program fosters personal growth while nurturing a deeper sense of community. Students leave with greater confidence, stronger teamwork skills, and the knowledge that they are capable of meeting challenges both in school and in life. We are grateful to the Cimino Foundation for funding this program and creating opportunities for local youth to thrive in the outdoors and beyond.
