Mission

IBC is committed to cultivating leaders of today

and tomorrow through individual and
community development and creating a connection to nature.

Our Story

Mathew Gershater started Idaho BaseCamp in 1998 with just four families. His goal was to get kids outside in their local areas and teach them Outdoor Adventure Education. In 2014 IBC became a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit organization and is now the leading resource for outdoor adventure education, committed to cultivating leaders, individual and community development, and serving the environment.

Based in Ketchum, Idaho, with two campus locations in Bellvue and just outside of Macky, Idaho. We offer five different outdoor education programs available to low-income children. These programs help children develop social and emotional skills, improve their mental health, and build Personal responsibility, CourageRespect for All, and Personal Responsibility. They also learn important team-building skills, all of which will help them succeed in life and in their careers.

We believe that everyone has the potential to be a leader, and we are committed to providing opportunities for people to learn and grow through outdoor adventure education. We also believe that a healthy environment is essential for a healthy community, and we work to educate and inspire people to take action to protect our planet.

We are grateful for the support of our staff, board, sponsors, partners, and donors. Their tireless work has made it possible for us to grow and thrive over the years.
